In honor of the women in the wine industry I wanted to do a mini blog on some wine producers that are mothers!
Of course mother's day is on of my favorite holidays, and whether you are a mother or not, most people love this time of year since they get to gather with their love ones. I'm not sure what I will be doing on mother's day (since it will be a surprise) but what I know for sure is that I'll be enjoying many glasses of great wine with my best friend, my daughter. ;)
Below you will see a small list of wines that you can surprise your mom or mother-in-law on this special holiday!

Elena and her two daughters Julia and Karoline Walch (5th generation) are shown in the picture above. If you want to change things up and celebrate Mother's Day with white wine due to the heat coming up, these two options are definitely a stand out.

This wine is 100% Gewurztraminer and won the "Tre Biccheri" designation from Gambero Rosso three vintages in a row. Very impressive! Enjoy the wonderful spring weather outdoors and refresh yourself with this delightful wine.
Beyond the Clouds Elena Walch 2012
This wine was nominated by Wine Spectator as one of the finest Italian wines in Opera Wine 2015. It has predominantly Chardonnay grapes. Elegant wine with great balance and finish. Cheers!

Excellent wine! It was nominated by Wine Spectator in Opera wine 2015. It shows ripe cherry, chocolate, mocha, herbs, and smoke. Full body with velvet tannin and beautiful long finish.

Clara Monaci is a strong and lovely woman. I met her three years ago and every year she is improving the quality of her wine. If you get your family together to enjoy a nice barbecue gathering with some grilled lobster or fish I recommend pairing it with her Roso di Montalcino 2012. But, if you choose the Brunello di Montalcino 2010, then pair it with a great cut of red meat.

Beautiful aromas of roses, violet, cherry, plum, mint, and chocolate. It's is full-bodied with delicious finish. The great thing about this Brunello is that it is ready to drink and has potential to age!
Rosso di Montalcino 2012
Spectacular Rosso. Pretty nose that evokes floral, fruity, spices, leather, and herbs. On the palate, full bodie with great acidity and velvet tannin. Ideal for spring and summer.
